The nation is being faced with a new type of dating. The sort that enables you to fit it round your work and other weekly commitments. Online dating is the the 'courting' and I'm pleased to say that it seems to be uniting couples around the world.
Here at NewlyWeds-Uk.com we have been notified by our friends at Match.com of a romantic meet that happened online and led to Wedding Bells. We thought you'd love to hear how online dating led to getting married!
Andreas and I ‘met’ online back in May 2002. I had originally put my profile on Match a year previously, but hadn’t had time to do much about it. One year later, during a quiet lunch hour at work I decided to have a look again and updated my profile. I forgot about it until 3 days later when I checked my personal emails again and found more than 20 emails from lovely eligible men! I was surprised to see that they were all very interesting and good-looking, however, one email stood out. It’s hard to pinpoint why, but he sounded really friendly and good fun. His name was Andreas and I correctly guessed he was Greek (living in London). We exchanged many emails and then he asked me to send him a photo, as I hadn’t put my picture online. When he received it he immediately replied and invited me for a drink.
We met in a busy bar in central London on Friday 10th May 2002, and although very nervous when I arrived (I was also very late!), he quickly put me at ease as he was so easy to talk to and I was delighted to see that he was more gorgeous in real life than in his photo! I immediately regretted having arranged to meet my friends that evening (I had been worried in case the date with Andreas didn’t go well) which meant I only had 30mins with him but I must have managed to make a good impression as he texted me later that evening asking to meet up again. We did one week later; arranging to meet for Sunday lunch but ending up out together until midnight. Things just got better from there…3 months later I went out to Greece to meet his family, 10 months later we moved in together and then 3 years later, on the anniversary of our first date, Andreas proposed to me on the Great Wall of China!
Andreas did tell me once that it must have been fate which brought us together as he had only sent emails to girls who had put their photos online however he had thought I was online at the time (I wasn’t!) and sent me a message.
One month ago we got married in Corfu where we had a beautiful traditional Greek wedding which was, without a doubt, the best day of my life. We were lucky to have lots of friends and family there and they thoroughly enjoyed it as it was a beautiful hot sunny day and they got to experience a big Greek wedding!
We have been together for almost four and half years now and we are both happier than we have ever been. Andreas treats me like a princess, making a big effort to give me all the attention that every girl needs to make them feel special. On the 10th of every month we make a point of celebrating the day we met that changed our lives forever. We often talk of how we first met; in fact we have kept the original emails we exchanged as a reminder.
So thank you Match.com!
