Flowers on Table

Choosing your Wedding day flowers needs to bring together all the other parts of your Wedding Day. You need to decide if you want to have Fresh Wedding Flowers or silk flowers. I would always go for Fresh, this article is to help you choose your Fresh Wedding Flowers.

Firstly, you will have established and chosen your Wedding colours. This is a good starting point. Think about whether these colours will look good against your dress and the bridesmaids dresses.

Choosing a florist is a difficult one. I would always suggest going with a recommended florist, if that option is not available to you, go and visit the florists in your wedding area and talk them through your ideas. You need to feel like your ideas have been taken on board and ask for a quote. You need to know that you can meet the amount you have budgeted. If it comes in over the figure that you have budgeted explain this to the florist, many can suggest area to cut back or re-organise so that your budgeted figure is met.

Remember to ask about delivery on your Wedding day. The last thing you want to be doing is driving to pick them up. If you have chosen a local florist many will charge a £5 delivery fee, but believe me when you are trying to get ready on the Wedding day morning, its far easier for someone to deliver your flowers to you.

When setting your Wedding Flowers budget you need to take into account the amount of flowers you need. So what do you need? The list below might be helpful:

Bridal Bouquet
Bridesmaids Bouquets
Button holes - Groom, Father of the Bride etc
Corsage - Mother of the bride

Church or Ceremony Flowers - Depending on where you are getting married. Many churches have someone 'in-house' to do the flowers so it might be worth checking with the person conducting the ceremony. Equally venues for Weddings often have a specific company that do the flowers for the venue - they know the venue and what looks good where - again, check with your venue.

The Reception - Flowers on the table, and thank you bouquets you need to give out. Check with the Reception venue if they have a company they always use.

If any of the locations such as the reception venue do use a particular florist, get a quote and check it with your florist to make sure you are being given a deal that suits your budget and requirements.

So, now all you have to think about is what Wedding flowers you want. You might have no interest in exact flowers but instead just want the Wedding flowers to fit a specific colour. Others want all roses and nothing else. I would suggest choosing flowers that are in season, its not only more cost effective but it also means the florist will have no problem obtaining the flowers for your big day. You should talk to your florist about this.

To give yourself some ideas on style, shape, colours and even specific flowers, I would highly recommend this book to assist any bride in helping to make decisions on the all important Wedding Flowers :
