Wedding Gift Lists

When you are invited to attend a wedding everyone likes to buy a gift to take with them, its a bit like saying thank you for inviting me and letting me be part of your big day. However, generally people like to buy a present or vouchers, not give cash or cheques, and for that reason you should consider the wedding gift list carefully. Remember that if you don't have a wedding gift list, wedding guests are more likely to buy you something random that they like .... some wedding guests will do that anyway, but by having a wedding gift list with a range of prices means guests are more likely to buy you something that you do actually want.

1. Alternative Gifts

Choosing a wedding gift list really does depend on your own personal circumstances, for example, if you and your partner already live together and you have established a home together you might not want another toaster! If this is the case, consider a charitable gift list, where instead of buying you gifts the gifts are bought for other people. For example, using Oxfam Unwrapped you can buy anything from a donkey to a toilet!

2. Department Stores

Not everyone does have an established home and even if they do sometimes they'd like a new saucepan set or matching towels, this is why department stores are a great way to create a wedding gift list. Department Store offer national stores and websites so your wedding guests can always visit their local store or buy online (even those wedding guests living abroad have no excuse!). Once you have registered with a store, you will be given little cards with your gift list number on that you can put into each of your invitations, which tells your wedding guests how they can go about shopping from your wedding list. Or consider a high-street store who offer gift lists.

3. Various items from lots of stores

If you prefer to have a variety of items made up from various stores, there are internet companies who offer this service to enable all your items to be on one gift list. The down side to this is they are internet based, so if Great Auntie Maureen can't use the internet she might just buy you that knitted toliet roll holder after all!

4. Vouchers

Another option for your wedding gift list, if you do have everything is to consider asking for vouchers. For example, if you want to re-do the kitchen or landscape the garden, vouchers might be helpful.

Visit Homebase for all your DIY and home improvement needs. Over 13000 products available to buy online today.

You could also consider asking for vouchers towards the honeymoon if you haven't yet booked one.

Whatever you decide for your wedding gift list, make sure that its clear for your guests especially as you'll be surprised just how generous people are for weddings!
