I was walking round the high street shops over the weekend, or actually more accurately being dragged by my wife and little girl. And as my wife was being drawn into the christmas stock already out on the shelves, we started discussing the inevitable options of prezzies for our frinds and family. .... It got me thinking about how romantic christmas can be, surrounded by friends and family, lots of fine wine and food, the prezzies, the snow and of course the reasons behind celebrating christmas. But based on that warm and fuzzy feeling is it really a good time to get engaged? I get lots of emails from men asking for proposal ideas and whether proposing at christmas is tacky? Personally, I think you can get engaged at anytime, its the thought and reasons behind it that make it special. I've heard of men buying a ring and placing it a decoration on the tree - waiting until all the presents have been dished out then popping the question. What about placing it on a christmas breakfast in bed or even writing 'will you marry me' on your front lawn in fake snow so its the first thing your partner sees when she wakes up?
Just remember to make it memorable and romantic! I would always recommend getting a ring, there is nothing more perfect than producing a beautiful ring. Or, it like when I proposed to my wife it made her realise that I was 100% serious!
It doesn't necessarily matter if its the wrong size or its not the perfect ring yourpartner would choose, you can always change it once the proposal is over - its the symbol of what the ring stands for, and it shows the effort you have gone to.
Good luck!
