Well I'm still glowing from THAT wedding!
And Newlyweds-UK blogger Val Hill (AKA Mrs Cardigan) is now a newly wed herself. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the church was beautifully lit with the late summer sunshine, the glow from the candlelight we all passed around during our simple prayers and by the warmth of the blessings and good wishes of friends and family. Perfect.
Val looked gorgeous, and sweetly nervous - I thought she might have to say her vows by semaphore as she was struggling to speak but her arms were shaking. But her lovely husband was as steady as a rock and it was an enormous privilege for me to conduct the service, though I confess to being nervous myself - especially as the best man was the beloved now-retired Vicar under whom I was a Curate.
Anyway, all went according to plan and the happy couple went off on their honeymoon after insisting that Garry & I call in on them for dinner on our way home from our own long weekend in the Lakes. I'm not sure how many honeymooners would invite the Vicar along to join them but they were even pointing out the extra bedrooms in their fab cottage near Tarn Hows and inviting us to stay overnight.
We declined graciously but we sat outside eating dinner, until we ourselves became a feast for the midges. As we were leaving to wend our way home we happened to look up. The sky was wonderfully clear and specked with masses of twinkling stars. Fabulous.
The Bible says the heavens are telling the glory of God. They were shouting it that night and i'm eager to hear their song. I'm adding a telescope to my wish list.
May the sun shine and stars twinkle on your special day too.
