Daughter marrying in church other than her parish

bouquet and hands

Dear Resident Reverend,

My daughter lives and works in London and her fiancee is an officer in the Royal Navy and therefore of no fixed abode. She would like to be married at a church near where we, her parents, live but not in our parish church.

She was christened and confirmed. We live in Worcestershire and the church she wishes to marry in is also in Worcestershire, i.e under the same bishopric.

What will she have to do to enable her to get married in the church of her
choice?

Thank you,

Kevin

In Germany the traditional weddings have a part at a local registry office and a second part in the church. At the Registry Office the couple sign the official papers and are afterwards legally married. In the church there is a ceremony and the vicar gives the blessing/vow so that the partners are married in front of God. read more »
