Can you change Reverend at the Church?

Me and my partner are getting married in our Parish Church which is where he was christened and his parents were married - it's lovely. The problem is that we would really like a different Reverend who is at another Church to undertake the wedding ceremony, not the Reverend at our Parish Church.

Is this allowed and what are the rules, do we have to attend the other Church for a period at all? I don't want to offend anyone!

Hi Sarah

It's perfectly possible for another minister to officiate at your wedding.

However, the resident Vicar is the registrar there so he or she will have to give permission for the other minister to take the wedding service.

You'll need to chat with them both and be extremely tactful - presumably you have a relationship with the other minister?

Hope it works out for you

Best wishes

Jan
