Wedding in Ruins

My fiance and I have recently got engaged! We are now looking to get married some time next year. We would like to get married at st marys church in Colston Bassett, it is in ruins but registered as stable and has visitors occasionally. I was wondering if we could get married there as they are still doing burials?
Would I have to ask at the nearest church to appoint a vicar, or would I have to hire a registrar?
Hope you can answer my question!
Joanne

Hi Joanne
I've done a search on www.achurchnearyou.com and St Mary's is not coming up. I wonder if they are using the graveyard bit not the church building. You could approach your local Vicar who probably looks after several of the churches and ask the question but I don't think the church will be used - it may be too much of a liability to risk taking people in there.
It's hard to comment without seeing it but the local clergy will know the situation so don't be worried about asking and even if the actual service can't be there you might be able to go there with your photographer.
Hope it works out for you
warm regards
