Do we have to marry in our new parish?

Until recently I have always lived on the same street, in the same parish, as my parents and grandparents, however I have now moved with my partner approx 1 mile away into the next parish. The church in my parents parish is a very grand old building with a lot of history and my family and I have always dreamed of seeing me married there, however I fear this will not be possible as my partner and I plan to marry next year and we will be living in the next parish. Do you know if it will still be possible to marry in my family's parish now we have moved?
Please help!
Kate, West Bromwich.

Hi Kate
Yes it is possible but it means you will have to attend church on a regular basis to demonstrate that you belong there.
Have a chat with the Vicar and see what he or she says about this as different clergy have differing interpretations of what 'regular attendance' means.
You need to start this straight away as it takes 6 months to get on the electoral roll and qualify.
