Passport and Currency

I have been with my Muslim partner for 2 1/2 years, and 2 years of that we have said we will get married.
However, my partner is an asylum seeker, and he wanted to get status on his own without using me or having me involved in any way.
Unfortunatly his claim has been refused, although he is appealing.
I know it sounds dodgy - but we want to now get married, i don't want to lose him, and this now seems to be our only way of staying together in this country.
I am a Christian, and want to get married in my CofE church anyway - i was wondering if there would be any problems in doing this - i know that for a registry office ceremony a 'certificate of approval' is needed for the home office - but that for an anglican wedding, these rules don't apply.
Is there anything stopping us getting married?

Many Thanks

Dear Reader
I've got to be honest - I'm not sure what to advise you. I'll need to take some advice myself and come back to you as soon as possible. I can't get an answer tonight unfortunately
best regards

Jan,

Any more info as yet? From what i read on the home office website there is nothing we have to do as we plan on marrying in an Anglican church, which is the only way i would want it - i'm just wondering whether when the bands are read - whether anything would be "a lawful reason...".
Many Thanks for all your help.

Hi

The Diocesan registrar has not yet answered my email but I'm in the office on Monday so I'll chase it up
Sorry for the delay. Lawful reasons are usually being already married or being under-age.
I will get back to you asap
warmest regards
Jan

Hello,

I was just reading through the different questions and found what I was looking for in this query. I am in a similar situation too and was wondering if you had found out what the possibilities are for an asylum seeker to be able to marry in a CHurch of England anglican church?

Regards
