Renewing Wedding Vows in London

Hi,
My husband and I were married a few years ago in a church in Newcastle where we live. We had rushed into this marriage after one of our twins was stillborn. We were arguing a lot and I don't feel that either of us was really ready for marriage and not long after the wedding we separated for about 6 months. We have spent the last year really getting our relationship sorted and we feel that we should renew our vows. We are both Christians and feel that a registry office ceremony would not be right for us. We would like to have the service in London as its a middle ground between where we are, and where a lot of my husbands family live.
Do you know if a Church of England Reverend in London would consider this?
We feel a great need to stand in front of God and make vows again - vows which we 100% believe in and mean from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you for any advice you can offer us.

I have looked on the find a church site and my local parish is Gosforth. It came up with a church called All Saints (my sister got married there).
Hi again!
Ignore that last message! Gary and I had a good talk last night and we feel that having the service near home would be better. Would you be able to ask your friend and see what his thoughts would be on helping us to have a blessing/renewal of vows? Thank you so much for your help.
Shelley
I've emailed him so lets see.
In the meantime can you go on the website www.achurchnearyou.com and find out which is your local parish and let me know?
Many thanks

Hi
Thank you so much for offering to speak to your friend for us. I spoke to Gary about it and he said that his family wouldn't be able to come up to the north east if we do it up here. He really wants his family there so sadly we can't accept your kind offer of help.
We have emailed a church in London near the hotel where we would have our reception but the Rector is away on holiday and we won't have an answer till he gets back.
I really hope we can find a church to help us. If you know of any other churches in London that we could contact, where they might be sympathetic to our needs, would you let us know please?
Thank you very much.
Shelley
Hi Shelley and Gary
Just another thought - Geoff Miller has been my best friend for the whole of our lives - over 50 years so that's some going! He's a fabulous guy and he also just happens to be the Archdeacon of Northumberland.
He lives in Newcastle near you - have you considered renewing your vows there and letting your guests come to you? I could possibly ask Geoff to take a service like that in the Cathedral for you....

Dear Shelley and Gary
I don't think any reverend in London would dream of refusing you! I was very moved by your story (huge apologies for the delay in replying as I've only just spotted your posting on the site).
You've both been through a lot of heartache and it's so lovely that you've decided to come back together. I think a service of blessing would be such a good thing to do and would be part of your healing process.
A blessing isn't a legal service so there is a little more flexibility of location. If you go to the church of your choice and talk this through with the minister I'm sure you'll get a sympathetic response.
I'll certainly be praying for you - and I think all our readers would love to hear how you get on and see a photograph posted on the site!
Every blessing to you both
