Catholic Ceremony in an Anglican Church?

Are you now able to conduct a catholic ceremony within an Anglican church?

The reason I ask is that both my boyfriend and I are Catholic, but the church on the grounds of the venue we are hiring is Anglican - is a Catholic priest allowed by permission of the Anglican church to conduct a ceremony?

Hi Sophie
This is a slightly complicated question as you can only marry in an Anglican church if you live in the parish. If the venue is outside of the area where either of you live then you wouldn't qualify to get married there. If one of you was an Anglican and the other a Catholic then often Priests are very willing to work together and take part in each others services.

Are you sure the church is not simply a chapel belonging to the family who used to live in your venue (if you see what I mean). The problem lies in the fact that marriage is a legally binding ceremony and official registers need to be signed. Some venues are licensed for weddings but they still need to bring in a registrar who brings registers in. They won't allow any religious input and if you have a blessing afterwards the registrar has to leave the premises before that happens.

You haven't really given me enough information to fully answer this question. It sounds as if you need to talk to your local priest and work it out with him. warm regards
