Hi
My fiance and I are getting married in South Africa, as that is where we are both originally from. We will have a church (and appropriate South African legal bits and pieces) service followed by a reception.
However due to the fact that many of our friends will not be able to travel to SA we would very much like to have a church blessing in England as well, after the SA wedding. Is this possible?
We will already be legally married and there are some other things to consider:
1) My fiance is confirmed Anglican, but I have not been confirmed, though I was baptised Anglican
2) We do not regularly attend church in London, but have lived in the same parish for 18 months (I dont know how one "qualifies" as being a member of a parish)
Please could you tell me if this is a feasable idea, what the process would be and what costs would be involved.
Thank you in advance for your time
Debbie

Hi Debbie
You qualify as belonging to a parish simply by living there and it doesn't matter that you are not confirmed yourself.
The process is to go and ask your Vicar and he or she will organise it with you. Fees differ from church to church as they are set by the PCC - and just as on your wedding day it depends on whether you want the organist etc - but £200 + as a guideline.
Hope your wedding goes well and that you enjoy your blessing service too - it's a great idea to gather friends together who missed out on the day.
warm regards
Jan
