Dear Resident Reverend,
My partner of 5 years asked me to marry me, i accepted. However he is off to university as a mature student and we will not have to money to get married for a good few years and we would like to have a religious blessing to confrim our commitment to each other. Can we do this? How do we go about doing this? Where can do this? I have travelled becasue of my fathers job and the other church i know is York Minster, and with Tom moving to Sheffield and me remaining in Bristol to complete my studies then moving to York i woulf like to know what church would accept us.

Thank you very much

Nicola

Hi Nicola
This is an unusual request because usually a blessing service is after marriage. However I suggest you go and chat to your local church in Bristol and explain the position. We don't have a Liturgical Service to cover this but I'm sure the Vicar will be happy to ask God's blessing upon you both - in your relationship, your studies and your future lives.

Separation is never easy but it sounds as if you are both committed to the relationship and I wish you every blessing for your future plans.
warm regards
Jan
