Daughter marrying in church other than her parish

Dear Resident Reverend,
My daughter lives and works in London and her fiancee is an officer in the Royal Navy and therefore of no fixed abode. She would like to be married at a church near where we, her parents, live but not in our parish church.
She was christened and confirmed. We live in Worcestershire and the church she wishes to marry in is also in Worcestershire, i.e under the same bishopric.
What will she have to do to enable her to get married in the church of her
choice?
Thank you,
Kevin

Hi Kevin
At the moment people can only marry in a church other than their own parish if they attend regularly and get themselves onto the electoral roll. That would mean regular trips back to Worcester on Sundays for your daughter.
The new marriage measure will allow a person to get married at a church where they have a demonstrable link - for example where your daughter was baptised and confirmed.
You don't mention if the church is part of a united benefice, that may well make a difference. Why not chat to the Vicar about the possibilities.
Kind regards
jan
