Options other than an Organ for a Wedding in Church?

Dear Resident Reverend,

If we choose to marry in an anglican church, do we have to have the organ or can we have something more modern like piano and guitars?

Thank you,

Gavin

Hi Gavin
You can usually have a choice though you'll need to discuss this with the Vicar.
Most churches have an organ and either a resident organist or a local person who comes on request. But people often choose to have live musicians like string quartets, bands or even bring their own CDs.

Some churches have good quality PA systems and excellent bands and they subscribe to music licences to allow them to play modern music that is still within copyright. If you are planning to ask friends to play do consider the copyright issue - which is even more complicated if the wedding is being filmed.

Have a chat with the Vicar and see what the situation is in your local church.
Hope your wedding rocks!
Jan
