Readings the religious ones?

Dear Resdient Reverend,

I am in a bit of a positon.... the Cannon who is performing our service is very traditional and is insistant that any readings during our service must be from the bible, my friend who is very important to us both is reading, but she isn't at all religious nor are the majority of our guests. The service itself will be very religious So I would like something that not only means somthing to us but something my friend will feel comfortable reading. The majority of the examples of possible readings i have read from the bible have not been suitable, please I would be very grateful for any suggestions you may have.

Kind Regards

Lisa

Hi Lisa
One of the readings must be from the Bible but you can have another which isn't. May I suggest the very popular reading from (1 Corinthians Chapter 13) which extols the virtues of love.

On the Wedding Show stand we often give away suggested non biblical readings - as agreed by our Bishop. One is an Apache Blessing and another is from Captain Corelli's Mandolin.

I'm sure your friend will be OK with the Corinthians reading and if the Canon persists then try saving the other reading for part of the speeches at your reception.
Hope this helps
warm regards
Jan
