Where should the banns get read?

Dear Resident Reverend,

I am getting married at a church in darlington on 18th October 2008 and the banns are due to be read for the first time on sunday 3rd August. Both myself and my partner own a house in the Parish of westhoughton, and have done for 3 years. My partner however has been living at his grans in the parish in which we are wanting to marry so many nights per week for work purposes and he has given his grans address as the address within the parish. I am confused over where the banns have to be read. I tried writing to the local Revd of the church of England in Westhoughton months back to see if he would read my banns in westhoughton at least at that is my parish. I received no response from him. Do I need to ensure this is done and how will I do it? It is more omplicated by the fact that despite Westhoughton being where we are both on the electoral register, I have now moved to the north east and am living with family due to work and only go back to westhoughton the odd weekend, to keep an eye on the house.

Thank you

Jobes

Hi Jobes
Yes you will need to have banns read at Westhoughton and the Vicar will give you a paper to prove that they have been read 3 times. The Vicar in Darlington will need to see that paper before the wedding can go ahead. So do go and see the Vicar in Westhoughton asap when you are there.

Banns only last 3 months so they couldn't have been read much earlier than this anyway.
Hope this helps
Jan
