Dear Resident Reverend,
My partner and I are both English but have been living in Australia for 3 years so do not live in any English parish. We would like to get married in Cornwall, in the parish church where my mother has lived for most of her life.
With the new Marriage Measure which came into force today, I believe that we should be able to get married in this church, by common licence. Is this correct?
Also, because of work committments, we are only able to arrive in the parish (from Australia) 7 days before our wedding day - I read somewhere that because of the new marriage measure, that this is okay. Could you confirm?
Are there any requirements to 'give notice' before this date, and how would this be done?
Thank you
Iona

Hello Iona
Yes I think you would qualify under the new marriage measure but you will need to talk to the Vicar asap as there will be paperwork to sort out. Also if it is a popular church you'll need to check that the date and time you want to marry is available.
Hope you have the wedding of your dreams
warm regards
