Getting married in a different parish?

Dear Resident Reverend,

Me and my partner are looking to be married summer 2010 but the church we
would like to be married in is not in our parish as we live futher up the
coast from this particular church. Is there any opportunity that we could
be married in a church out of parish even though we dont live close and
neither do any of our parents?

Thanks very much

Emma

Hi Emma
Unless you have a family link with the church the only way to get married there is if you become a parishioner.

This means attending church for 6 months regularly in order to be put on the electoral roll. You then have rights to vote on church decisions so we are only keen for couples to do this if they show some commitment to the church congregation, but 6 months is a good time to get to know them.

kind regards
Jan
