Getting Married in Church for the second time

Dear Resident Reverend,

I've always attended a C of E church which I got married in last time, i'm divorced now but would like to get married in church again, how can I find out which churches I could get married in in Portsmouth please?
Thanks
Bethany

Hi Bethany
You need to chat to your local minister to ask if he or she would be willing to conduct a wedding service when one party is divorced. Legally it is possible but it has been left to individual ministers to decide.

If you have a link to another church in the area - either because you were baptised, confirmed or attended church there. Or indeed lived in that parish for 6 months previously. Equally if parents or grandparents were married there - then you would also be eligible to approach the minister there to ask the same question.

If a minister is not comfortable with conducting a marriage service then ask about the possibility of blessing after a civil ceremony and then you can ponder the options.

I do hope you manage to arrange a service that works for you.
warmest regards
Jan
