Myself and my partner want to get married in a church, I have never been married, my partner was married in a register office when he was young, we are both middle aged now, but is now divorced (before I met him).
He rang our local church and the vicar would not even talk about it, as soon as my partner said he was divorced the vicar said no Anglican Church would marry us, I know this not to be true as I know lots of people marry in church after divorce, nothing up for discussion.
We was told our wedding could be blessed after a civil ceremony, my feelings are if he will not marry us in a church and it has to be a civil ceremony, then I do not want to be blessed!
Is there anything else or anybody else that can help us?

Marriage after divorce
Hi Debbie
You are quite right - it is legally possible to get married in an Anglican Church after divorce and I'm so sorry that you were given wrong information by the Vicar.
It is his prerogative not to officiate at your Wedding but there are lots of Ministers who will - especially as you didn't cause the divorce.
Since the new Marriage Measure became law 6 months ago you have much more choice about where to marry, so why not approach another church where you have a link?
I'm sure you'll find the right place where you can marry AND be blessed in the process!
Kind regards
