Church Blessings

Hi Resident Reverend,

We would like to have a blessing after our civil ceremony in a church, but are not sure whether it has to be held in our local parish or if we can have the blessing in a church of our choice outside of our local parish?

Thanks
Leanne

Hi Leanne
There are no rules for blessing services so they can, in theory, happen anywhere you like, providing you can find a MInister who is willing to do this for you.

If you have a personal relationship with a Vicar then they may well be willing to travel (I'm going all the way to Barcelona to do this for my friend's daughter, but that's a bit extreme).

A service like this is (if I may say so) over and above the call of duty! But most of us love to say yes.

Most Vicars would be happier taking a service in their own church, and would do it in order to build a relationship with you that they would hope to nurture over the years so that you feel yourself to be part of the church family. Your local parish is always the best option.

warm regards
Jan
