My Fiancee and I live together in Reading but were hoping to get married in Devon, where she grew up. We have chosen a church which I understand we qualify to marry in as my fiancee's mother grew up within it's parish. Where my fiancee grew up, I have been told, used to be part of this parish also but is now part of the adjacent parish. I spoke to the Reverend at this church and he has agreed to meet us.
From some of the other questions I have learned that the Vicar of the parish in which you live is obliged to conduct a wedding for you, but does this extend to our case as we do not live in the parish in question? If not, is it acceptable to arrange to meet with Vicars of other churches?
Thank you for your help.

Hi Dave
It sounds complicated because of the restructuring of the parishes, but if the Vicar has agreed to meet you then it sounds highly likely that you will be OK to marry there.
I haven't seen an instance like this written up in the new Marriage Measure but I'm sure it'll be in the smallprint. I'll make enquiries. Can you let us know how you get on - as a help to others?
Many thanks

Dear Jan,
We finally had our meeting with the vicar and he said it was absolutely fine, he saw no objection to it but he didn't make any referrence to whether he had to perform the wedding under the new Marriage Measure so it may have just been his decision. Thanks for your help.
