Hello,
I am a British Citizen, as is my finacee. We have lived in Australia for around 4 years.
We would like to marry in a church in England or Wales, and we are struggling on what the real requirements are in relation to preparation for a ceremony in terms of timing, banns and attendance at the church prior to the ceremony.
Because we live in Australia, multiple visits to the UK prior to the ceremony are not viable due to the cost of flights.
Can someone please advise whether it is possible to arrange a marriage ceremony in a church whilst living overseas?
Thanks,
J

Hi JG
Yes it is possible and as you are a British Citizen you will be able to marry in any church to which you have a qualifying link. I've written a lot about this in the past - (search new 'Marriage Measure' on this site to get details).
This involves a licence so get in touch with your preferred church asap to get the paperwork sorted. You'll need to be in the UK in advance of the wedding to sign papers etc but your Vicar will advise you.
warm regards
Jan
