Groom Speech - Funny

Mom and Dad, (bride father & bride mother) or maybe I should be calling you “Mom and Dad” as well, our family, (bride’s) family, and all our friends and any wedding crashers who might be out there, my wife and I (pause for applause)…okay now that we’ve got the cheering out of the way, we have a long list of people that we need thank this evening.

First of all, I was touched by the warm welcome into the family by new in-laws, (bride’s father and mother). I have to say that I have felt a part of the family for a number of years and that is due to the open hearts of (bride’s father and mother).

(Bride’s mother) has tirelessly prepared for this day for several months and the wonderful accents such as these beautiful (name a decoration – eg flower/cake etc.) decorations were all her doing. (Bride’s mother), you are welcome to come over and decorate our (apartment/house/flat) anytime!

Today also represents a momentous occasion for both my parents, being the pinnacle of many years of hard work for them. I am sure there were times when they questioned why they put up with me all these years. My parents have adjusted my moral compass and supported me through school and college. Most importantly they taught me to embrace my own individuality.

My family is the root of my confidence and it is with this background that I was able to attract (bride). (Bride) is the most beautiful, intelligent, and sensitive girl a man could ever dream of. I could not be more excited to start our own family and I look forward to the day when we are attending the wedding of one of our children. I also hope that weddings mysteriously became a lot cheaper in the future if we are picking up the tab!

Finally, I have to thank the wedding party. In particular, my best man, (name), for not embarrassing me too badly with his speech and for his years of friendship. (Best man) has been giving me a heart attack in the last few days about which stories he was going to present. The huge inventory of hilarious stories is a testament to all the fun times we’ve shared with each other over the years.

In addition, I must pay tribute to the gorgeous bridesmaids (name, name, name and name whose endless energy helped to make this day so successful.

Finally, thank, you, everybody, for listening, and sharing this moment with us. Some of you have traveled from halfway across the world and we intend to put on a party for you that will make the trip worthwhile. Would you kindly stand and raise your glasses and drink a toast to the health of your hosts, two wonderful people, (usually bride’s father and mother).
