We do weddings superbly in the Church of England. At the risk of blowing our Parish Trumpet I'd go so far as to say that we are THE experts. We're also pretty good at funerals and fantastic at Thanksgivings and Baptisms (and we don't charge for these latter two services, unlike the civil naming ceremonies that are becoming popular). But what you may not be aware of is that the Church is able to offer a service of Blessing after civil marriage. read more »

Well it's that time of year again when most of us are destined to sit in hot cars in traffic jams or on suitcases in the airport awaiting delayed flights and hoping desperately to be re-united with said suitcase when actually arriving at the holiday resort. We must be mad! read more »
I'm secretly praying for sunshine again tomorrow as I'm officiating at another wedding. The bride and groom are both lovely and, as we've spent quite a bit of time together, I'm getting to know them better. But it's Billy, the father of the bride, that I know well. Very well in fact, as I had a year long relationship with him last year. read more »

Dear Resident Reverend
This isn't strictly wedding related but I wondered if you could advise what the current thinking is among churches about non-married couples living together? Does the view change if they are engaged and preparing for marriage?
Are there churches which wont baptise people who live with their partners and what about marrying couples which live together?

Dear NewlyWeds-UK and Resident Reverend,

I am now happily engaged to a man whom I love with my whole heart and whom I am excited to be marrying in August 2008. read more »

Dear Reverend,
I would like to take my (future) wife's name, rather than her taking mine. I know this is unusual, but it is possible?
Could you talk me through the process?
Thank you,
