  • Hello there,

  • I am getting married next year and having a church (C of E) wedding as its what my fiance really wants.

I'm not a christian but have looked into my faith a lot and haven't decided what I believe. I've been looking into it for many years and so don't think I will have made a decision by next year.

I don't mind a religious ceremony but feel really uncomfortable and hypocrytical about standing up in front of family and friends, repeating vows with direct reference to God, i.e. "In accordance to God's holy law".

  • My partner and I are getting married in a Church outside our parish. The reason behind this is it was the only church we have attended and is welcoming to me as my grandad had his funeral there and is buried in the grounds. We have to book time of work to attend sunday service which has not been a problem. but does cost us alot of money in travel and loss of earnings. The vicar was unsure if my link to the church was a "link" to be married there? can you answer this at all for us?

    Many Thanks

  • Dear Res Rev,

Me and my partner are both muslims and would like to get married at our parish church. We have been residing at our current address for almost a year (which I reckon exceeds the minimum requirement of 6 months). Being foreign nationals and non-Christians, are we allowed to apply for registration and marriage ceremony in a Church?

I understand that in normal circumstances we would be expected to register and have our ceremony in a mosque but although we are muslims we belong to different sects which is causing major issues. Please guide us!

    Kind regards
    kuchi

  • Dear resident reverend

Me and my fiance are going to set a date as we have been engaged for a while now but we both like a church which is around the corner from where my partner was brought up and lived all his life but it is a church of england church? the problem is that my partner is catholic and so are our children. I have never been christened, my partner is happy to marry in a catholic or COE church but we really like this one.
Were do i stand with getting married in a church of england? would this mean i have to marry in a catholic church because our children are also catholic?
