Getting Engaged and getting married are hugely important in anyone's life. But how important is the ring?
It all depends on whether you are going to propose with a ring - or buy one afterwards. Think about what the person you are proposing to would want. A number of my friends who have proposed to their girlfriends have not had a ring as they knew that their prospective wives would want to choose their own. read more »

Do you have to memorise "I give you this ring"?
26 September, 2007 - 06:05 posted by Summertagged in
I was wondering, when we are exchanging the rings, we have to say the words, "I give you this ring...", I was wondering if we as the couple have to memorise these lines or do we get to read them off a piece of paper, or does the minister say them and then we repeat? because I really don't think I can memorise those words, it's the main thing I'm stressing about.
Thanks so much

I'm back! After 2 weeks of tackling the traumas of moving (apparently the most stressful thing you can do...apart from getting married of course!) we are now getting settled into our 1930s mid-terrace in wonderful Worthing - soon to be transformed into a 21st century ecohome! Just as soon as we get the boxes emptied...1 step at a time…
And talking of steps, looking back over my posts, I realise I'd missed out one of the crucial steps that marks the start of most couples' journey up the aisle - the engagement ring. read more »

Whilst catching up on my wedding news from around the world, I came accross a news story from Brazil which amazed me.
According to the Brazillian media, a lucky pregnant pharmacy worker's wedding ring saved her life by deflecting a bullet during a robbery in Rio de Janeiro. The wedding ring deflected a bullet that would have hit her in the head. The woman, 32, was working in a pharmacy in Monte Alegre, in the north-eastern state of Sergpipe, when an armed man shot her at close range. read more »
