  • Would you please explain the wording "For be ye well assured that so many as are joined together otherwise than God's Word doth allow, are not joined together by God; neither is their Matrimony lawful."  This would seem to me to be the difference to a civil marriage which does not have the same high standards (due to civil liberties) as a church marriage.

    Not sure if this question is clear or not but here we go,....

     

     

    We have booked a hotel for our wedding and would like to hold a ceremony and the wedding breakfast there. The registry office can only offer a 4pm civil ceremony at the hotel which is too late for us. I am therefore thinking of just having a ceremony led by my uncle at the hotel to exchange our vows in front of our family and friends and then the following day go to the registry office to carry out the legal side of marriage.
