Check out the deb's advice

Having been assured by the Observer that 'Camilla Morton knows everything. Everything' I decided to dip into her 'Year in High Heels' manual to see if there is any advice about weddings. Naturally there it all was under July....

Those who enjoyed 'How to walk in high heels' will be glad to know that Camilla waxes lyrical on the subject of 'How to get a ring on your finger' and 'how to get hitched'. She then goes into great detail about Setting the budget (but beware - her must-haves exceed £25,000) and lots of helpful information about orders of service, wedding lists etc

SATC and your style

It was certainly a sight for sore eyes. 350 women dolled up to the eyelashes, not to mention The Butler in the Buff who drew the raffle prizes and served up the drinks...

I'm referring to the preview of SATC11 laid on at the Odeon cinema at the Printworks in Manchester, along with popcorn and cocktails. It was all in a good cause with proceeds going to The Birdhouse Fund. Great fun to watch and the film contained some very enlightening discussions on marriage. Especially on the Terrible Twos as outlined in Carrie's book 'I do, do I.'

But what was most impressive was the range of styles in clothing and hair - we felt we needed to make an effort to suit the occasion, but clearly fashion is much less restrictive these days with many people opting for period glamour , in an effort to outdo Sarah Jessica Parker.

which brings me to the latest articles here on Newlyweds-uk.

Jan Harney on Magic, Winter, and Dogs christening Snowmen

Up on the fields the lighting is magical. No wonder a photographer told us at Newlyweds-uk that he preferred shooting Winter Weddings.

The effects remind me of my friend Nigel Cox's paintings which have an ethereal look inspired by his Transglobe expedition.
His paintings are amazing and he often exhibits - why not put one on your wedding present list? It'd be a great investment.

It's on my wish list but for now I'll just enjoy the crunch of snow and watching the Hoolies (my three dogs) christen all the Snowmen. It could take off as a ministry.

Apart from the colours and hedgerow foraging, the other reason I love the Autumn is that it is Wedding Show season and I absolutely love the glitz and glamour of it all. The NEC was particularly spectacular for me because I was onstage alongside Jackie and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.

Live music can add the perfect touch to your wedding ceremony. From the point at which guests assemble, right up to the exit of the newly weds, it creates an atmosphere, evokes emotion and brings a sense of cohesion to proceedings.

Yes I know the song lyrics are actually "Always a Bridesmaid, never a Bride," but our Book Club opted to read an autobiography this time and (because I'm a Vicar of Dibley fan) I suggested Dawn French's book 'Dear Fatty'.

It's very easy to read because she has written her memoirs in the form of letters to various characters in her life, but one of the things that jumped out at me was her desperate desire to be a bridesmaid...

I was intrigued by a comment that popped up on the side of my computer screen this morning saying “Adultery is not the end of marriage.” The link led to an American MSNBC news article about a website called Ashley Maddison, which is causing a few ripples across The Pond. The website is the brainchild of Noel Biderman, an American businessman who is making a crock of gold out of a crock of … Well, out of promoting serial infidelity. Enough said.

I am sure most married readers of this article would agree that their wedding day was not just a happy and exciting day but also one of enormous fun. A wedding day can feel like a whirlwind; getting dressed, enjoying the ceremony, greeting guests, relaxing at the reception, dancing, celebrating your love and your life together.

The recent chaos in Terminal-5 at Heathrow effected a couple on route to get married in Italy. Much to their dismay, when they arrived in Pisa their luggage including the dress and suits for the Groom and Best Man didn't arrive.

The Groom (Tim Soong) and Best Man (Andy Baynes) wrote a terminal-5 song and shot a video in the terminal.

Check it out for yourself!

With the average wedding costing in excess of £15,000, its a tall order for any couple looking to tie the knot. But your wedding doesn't have to cost this much, there are ways to achieve the wedding you want at a price that it suits your wedding budget. After all, the idea of starting a marriage up to your neck in debt because you wanted thrones and to arrive by helicopter isn't going to do your relationship any good.

Brave words by Edith Piaf – yet most of us feel we have something to regret and a new book entitled ‘The Book of Regrets’* has been published. It’s a compilation of contributions by celebrities who talk about the thing they regret in life, with proceeds going to charity. Most of them (like the Archbishop of Canterbury who wished he had approached W.H Auden in a teashop) regretted things they didn’t do. Both Libby Purves and Bel Mooney wished they had been more adventurous and both (unsurprisingly) quoted Edith Piaf’s signature tune.
