I have been reminded that for those of you in Scotland who would like your own personal, non-religious ceremony in your own choice of location, there is a separate Humanist Society of Scotland, with a list of legal celebrants.

In 2006 the Humanist Society of Scotland conducted nearly 500 legal weddings and is now the fifth most popular wedding provider in the country.

Lucy O'Neill has emailed NewlyWeds-UK with her question for our Resident Reverend. Lucy, Jan, our Resident Reverend will reply as soon as she can!.

Hope you can reassure me, I'm getting married at a registry office on 12th July and having a Service of Blessing at my future in-laws parish church on 14th July. My question is; how much like a marriage ceremony is a blessing?

How is the wedding planning going? Have you thought about sending out your wedding invitations yet?

Obviously you want your wedding invitations to look good - this is the first glimpse your wedding guests will have of the style of your wedding; will it be a contemporary wedding, a classical wedding, etc. However before you finalise your wedding invitation pack, it may be worth considering what extra information about your wedding, you include in the wedding invitation pack.

Below is the NewlyWeds-UK guide to wedding invitations.

How exciting! This is my first post for NewlyWeds-UK and you can expect to find me here every Monday from now on...

So, what am I going to be talking about?

Well, you probably have an inkling already from the title of this post: Ethical Weddings... or green weddings, organic weddings, fair trade weddings... these are some of the terms you may have heard in the press over the last year or two.

Well the post bags are fit to bursting this week with a number of you wanting to ask the NewlyWeds-UK Resident Reverend a question about your wedding planning, the wedding ceremony, and getting married in a church.

Where to start with wedding planning?

Congratulations on your engagement, I hope the proposal was magical, Down on one bended knee? Will you marry me?

So now the big questions start, then stress levels are rising, and you need to start tying down some details, you may want to do everything at once, the time to fly by and the wedding day to arrive, however by ensuring everything is organised, or at least planned, you will save yourself a lot of wedding related stress.
