Dear Reverend,

Dear Resident Reverend,

I haven't been christened, and I've never been to church, I'm marrying a Hindu and would love to get married in a church. Is this possible, what churches can I get married in if possible, also what will I have to do to be able to do this?

Thanks Reverend

Carly

we have booked a wedding date in an Anglican church outside our parish. Our vicar advised it was fine so long as we attend for at least 6 months, so we can go onto the electoral roll. This is not a problem as we have been attending for nearly a year. I have not been baptised (which our vicar knows) my partner however has. Is it enough for him to go onto the electoral roll or must I be baptised to get married outside the parish. Also how do you get onto the electoral roll?... is there an application and when does this happen?

I was wondering, when we are exchanging the rings, we have to say the words, "I give you this ring...", I was wondering if we as the couple have to memorise these lines or do we get to read them off a piece of paper, or does the minister say them and then we repeat? because I really don't think I can memorise those words, it's the main thing I'm stressing about.

Thanks so much

My friend has planned to get married in the chapel at Bearwood College in Reading on 23rd December. Her fiancee is an ex student and the college have given their permission.

They are now facing a problem as the vicar had not booked a registrar. He is now struggling to get hold of one. Do you know how I would find an Anglican Registrar and how to go about booking them?

I apologise if I have come to the wrong place, but I would greatly appreciate any information you could provide me with.

Kind Regards

Hi

My fiance and I are getting married in South Africa, as that is where we are both originally from. We will have a church (and appropriate South African legal bits and pieces) service followed by a reception. However due to the fact that many of our friends will not be able to travel to SA we would very much like to have a church blessing in England as well, after the SA wedding. Is this possible?

We will already be legally married and there are some other things to consider:

1) My fiance is confirmed Anglican, but I have not been confirmed, though I was baptised Anglican

Dear Reverend,

My fiance and I are both Americans. However I've been living in Oxford for the past two years, and have regularly attended church in a parish here. I'd very much like to be married here in Oxford, but I'm not sure what that would look like legally!

Would we still have banns read and so forth, and would we have to do any additional paperwork to make it legal in the United States?

We'll be moving back to the States after the wedding so I want to make sure I cross all the t's.

Thank you very much,

Lydia Carr

Are you now able to conduct a catholic ceremony within an Anglican church?

The reason I ask is that both my boyfriend and I are Catholic, but the church on the grounds of the venue we are hiring is Anglican - is a Catholic priest allowed by permission of the Anglican church to conduct a ceremony?

Hello,

Myself and my partner would like to get married in September 2008. Neither of us follow a particular religion (we were christened as babies) but would like to have a church wedding ceremony.

The Church which is most beautiful to me is just outside our parish and I've heard they are quite strict about that, so I don't think we would be able to marry there, but there are two churches very close to us, however, one is Baptist and the other is Methodist. I am sorry if I sound ignorant, I do not mean to be, but can we marry in either of these?

My partner & I would like to get married in church due to our beliefs about marriage & what this signifies. However, whilst we were both connected with the church when we were younger - neither of us have been regular church goers.

Dear Resident Reverend,

Both myself and my husband to be are Catholic. We are getting married next year and unfortunately the local catholic church has burnt down and is unlikely to be ready in time for the wedding. Other Catholic Churches in the area are too small for the number of guests we have. Is it an option for us to have a Catholic Service in a Church of England Church?

Who would we need to speak to?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

I married my African husband at the register office in the Gambia last year and wanted a wedding blessing this year in the UK but as my husband is Muslim he doesn't want to go to church and I don't want to go to the mosque. Can I go to the register office again here?

Dear Resident Reverend,

Can I still Marry in the Church I was Baptised in although it is no longer my parish church now?

27.07.07

I have chosen two hymns for my service 13 Oct 2007. All things bright and beautiful and O' Perfect Love. Our families are not familiar with O' Perfect Love, I was wondering if I could substitute a hymn for another reading?

At the moment we are in the middle of the flood situation and feel my vicar will be busy helping those in need.

Can a couple get married in the Church of England if they are both from a different church - not a different parish, but if both my fiancee and I are Catholic, can we still get married in an Anglican church?

Thank you

I have been with my boyfriend who is a Scottish for one year five months, we are planning to get married next year in august so we wanted to know whether the Church of England can marry us, as I am a South African who goes to the church of England regularly.

I am getting married in France in 6 weeks and I need someone to offer a blessing I do not know what to do. The mayor will not marry us as we are not French or residents. Do you offer a blessing service?

I know this is short notice and not very organised of me but I am now at my wits end.

If you have any information or can help in any way I would be most grateful.

Kindest Regards

Lisa

Hi,

Can you please confirm what the criteria is to register on a church electoral roll. i.e. Baptised and regular attendance to the church or is it as above as well as having to have been confirmed

Kind Regards

Me and my partner are getting married in our Parish Church which is where he was christened and his parents were married - it's lovely. The problem is that we would really like a different Reverend who is at another Church to undertake the wedding ceremony, not the Reverend at our Parish Church.

Is this allowed and what are the rules, do we have to attend the other Church for a period at all? I don't want to offend anyone!

Hello Reverend.

My partner and I are both English but have been living in Sydney for 6 years so do not live in any English parish. I was a churchgoer in England in both Liverpool and Manchester.

We would like to get married in Manchester close to where I used to live, but currently have no connection there other than I still have a flat there (my parents are in Liverpool and his are in London).

From everything I have read it looks like we would not be able to be married anywhere in England, except possibly in my parents' parish. Is this right?

28.06.07

This may seem an odd question but one i need to ask.

Is it normal to write a cheque for our Certificate of Banns made out to the Vicar rather than the Parish Church and if this is normal, then is it perfectly acceptable that our receipt is a handwritten note on headed parish church paper, rather than an audited invoice.

Any advice on this matter would be greatly received.

Many Thanks in advance

Rachel

Can a RC marry their husband to be who is Church of Scotland in a Church of England Church (and not their own parish church)? She is keen to have part of the ceremony conducted by a catholic priest - can you let me have any advice on this? Thank you in advance.
