Dear Resident Reverend,

Apart from consulting the parties concerned, can you please tell me where I can obtain explicit information about which parts of the service can be undertaken by a Methodist Padre within a C of E marriage ceremony so as to conform with the law?

Dear Resident Reverend,

Have a bit of a dilemma - trying to organise my wedding in the UK from overseas

My partner (Australian citizen) & I met in the UK 3 years ago and moved to Australia together 18 months ago.

Dear Resident Reverend,

We have met with the vicar at a church where I grew up. Neither myself or my parents have actually lived in the Parish but have lived in the surrounding area for many years. I have moved away (250 miles) and the vicar has agreed to marry us on condition that we "habitually" attend church for 6 months.

Dear Resident Reverend,

I apologise profusely if this question is at all offensive. My fiancee and I are both agnostic (by which I mean that we believe in God, but have chosen not to pick any one religion over the other while still respecting every one of them. I do occassionalyl go to church, though out of spiritual than religious reasons).

Dear Resident Reverend,

My partner and I are both English but have been living in Australia for 3 years so do not live in any English parish. We would like to get married in Cornwall, in the parish church where my mother has lived for most of her life.

Dear Resident Reverend

I am to be married to my wonderful fiance in spring next year. We are having a C of E wedding in my local church. I was born and raised as C of E and even though I do not attend regularly I still consider myself a Christian.

Dear Resident Reverend,

Between the ages of 4 and 11 (possibly later) I attended a Methodist Church. This is a religion which I have continued to follow although I have not attended church. I do not have a local Methodist Church but I visited an Anglican church some time ago and expressed interest in holding my wedding there. Is it possible that I can get married in a church outside of my Parish and have a Methodist Vicar carry out the ceremony?

Thank you

Rox

Dear Resident Reverend

Neither myself nor my fiancé want to get married where we grew up and worshipped when we were younger. We have moved around England quite a lot in the last few years and live a long way from our family. We have decided to get married in Edinburgh as it’s our favourite city and has really good transport links for family and friends.

Dear Resident Reverend,

I have contacted the church of my parent's parish that I and my younger siblings were all christened in, and they said we could marry there either when the law changes, or by applying for a special licence. As our wedding is not until May 2010, the church are happy to hold the date provisionally while we wait to see what happens with the new Marriage Measure.

Dear Resident Reverend,

My fiance and wish to marry in September this year in his village church. We have started making plans but these are confused by a) no vicar incumbent and b) the church warden tells us the church in our village can not perform wedding ceremonies (yet it can perform baptisms and funerals).

Dear Resident Reverend,

My girlfriend and myself are Zimbabweans living in this country on student visas for at least two years now. we have gone through with the traditional marriage process in our country of origin and now would like to marry legally. We are both Christians and are seeking advice on the best way to acquire a marriage certificate and the costs involved.

Dear Resident Reverend,

I am christened but my girlfriend is not. Are we allowed to get married in a church, or do we both need to be christened?

Thanks!
